James Wishart Dies – Was Legion Member

A funeral service will be held tomorrow at 2p.m., from the chapel of D. A. Collins, 5610 Sherbrooke street west, for James Wishart, prominent Canadian Legion member, who died Friday at the Montreal Military Hospital.  He was 57.

Born in Rutherglen, Scotland, Mr. Wishart came to Canada in 1913.  He enlisted in the Army at the outbreak of the first World War, going overseas with the 60th. Battalion, C E F. During the war he was awarded the Military Medal, and was discharged with the rank of Regimental Sergeant Major.

After the war, he was intimately connected with the Canadian Legion, holding at different times the posts of president of the railway Veteran’s Branch, vice-president of the Provincial Command, and chairman of the Montreal District Council.  He was also Past Grand Master of Lodge 21, of the International Order of Oddfellows.

He is survived by his widow, the former Jane Bennett; two daughters, Mrs. R. D. Chapman, and Miss Margaret Wishart; four sisters, two in Vancouver and two in Scotland; two brothers in Scotland; one grandson.  Interment will take place in Mount Royal Cemetery.
