( ( 4% + 4% ) * 0.66666666666667 ) );margin-right: 4%;\"><div class=\"fusion-column-wrapper fusion-flex-column-wrapper-legacy\"><div class=\"fusion-text fusion-text-1\"><h4>The Daily Courier (Connellsville, PA) \u2013 20 February 1924<\/h4>\n<p><strong>John Wishart Aids Stranded Trolleyites<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>John Wishart<\/strong> (WIS0066) of Poplar Grove befriended a number of passengers on a West Penn street car that became stranded near his home. \u00a0He made two trips to Scottdale in his automobile carrying passengers. \u00a0He transported nine persons in this manner but on the second trip saw a huge pole fall across the trolley wire in Broadway. \u00a0He refused to make another trip, especially when on the return home he was blown from the road three times, the wind literally sweeping the automobile before it.<\/p>\n<p>Reaching his Poplar Grove home he told the remaining passengers they should remain at his home for the night, but he would not take them to Scottdale.<\/p>\n<p>There were four street cars &#8216;hung up&#8217; between the city limits and Poplar Grove. \u00a0Passengers from all of these came to Connellsville. \u00a0The crew all gathered in one car and for a time burned newspapers on the floor of the trolley in order to keep warm. \u00a0Then Mr. Wishart dug up an oil stove which he loaned for the purpose. \u00a0Mrs. Wishart supplied hot coffee and sandwiches.<\/p>\n<p>West Penn cars were also stalled between Connellsville and Scottdale. \u00a0This morning, according to reports from Scottdale, bread trucks running out of the city to that place, were held up along the road by passengers who were stranded on cars all night, and purchases of buns, bread and other pastries made.<\/p>\n<\/div><div class=\"fusion-clearfix\"><\/div><\/div><\/div><div class=\"fusion-layout-column fusion_builder_column fusion-builder-column-2 fusion_builder_column_1_6 1_6 fusion-one-sixth fusion-column-last\" style=\"--awb-bg-size:cover;width:16.666666666667%;width:calc(16.666666666667% -
